Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be common in moist primary forest and uncommon to rare in degraded forest, tall secondary forest, lightly wooded cultivation and scrub (Coates et al. 1997).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction and fragmentation.
