Site location and context
The area is a mosaic of moraine lakes, reedbeds (Phragmites), fens, peatbogs and forest.



Key biodiversity
The site regularly holds more than 20,000 passage waterbirds, and is a migratory bottleneck site˜up to 3,000 Grus grus regularly pass. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Otis tarda (breeding).



Protected areas
National None International HighIBA overlaps with Biosphere Reserve (Schorfheide-Chorin) and Special Protection Area.
