Site description (2000 baseline)
The area is a mosaic of moraine lakes, reedbeds (Phragmites), fens, peatbogs and forest.
Key biodiversity
The site regularly holds more than 20,000 passage waterbirds, and is a migratory bottleneck siteup to 3,000 Grus grus regularly pass. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Otis tarda (breeding).
