Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as rare and local, possibly even extinct in Pakistan; common and widespread in Nepal, abundant in Bhutan, frequent to very rare in India, fairly common to locally common in China and locally uncommon in Vietnam (del Hoyo et al. 2007).
