Very little is know about the species. It is thought to have gone extinct by around 1730 as a result of over-hunting, predation, and deforestation (Hume 2017).
Nesoenas cicur is known from subfossil remains on Mauritius (Hume 2011).
Little is known, but it was probably more terrestrial than N. picturatus (Hume 2017).
This species is thought to have became extinct as a result of overhunting, predation by invasive mammals, and severe deforestation (Hume 2017).
