Population justification: The global population is estimated to number 50,000-499,999 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019). The species is described as 'fairly common' (Stotz et al. 1996); it is frequently observed throughout its range (per eBird 2021).
Trend justification: The species is inferred to decline as a consequence of habitat loss, which has already led to range contractions and local extinctions (Short 2020). Tree cover within the range is lost at a rate of 9% over three generations (17 years; Global Forest Watch 2021). Due to its forest dependency, population declines may be roughly equivalent to forest loss and therefore, the rate of decline is here placed in the band 1-19% over three generations.
