Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A large area of poor sandy soil covered with lichens and scattered dwarf shrubs, with smaller areas of
Pinus mugo plantations and other conifers. This IBA has been extended to include a larger terrestrial area but the marine areas surrounding this IBA (and previously included within it, following Grimmett and Jones 1989) are now included in the Northern Kattegat IBA (site 119).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Pinus mugo, a plantation species, is invading the heathland and causing problems.
National Low
International Low70 ha of IBA covered by Ramsar Site (Anholt Island (waters north of), 12,720 ha). 70 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Sea area north of Anholt, 11,520 ha).
