Site description (2009 baseline)
At the Huang He (Yellow River) estuary, massive volumes of sediment brought down by the river have settled and formed the largest river delta in China and the youngest coast wetland in eastern China. This sedimentary area is a flat plain. Vegetation cover is c.53.7% inside the nature reserve, and the IBA includes the largest area of coastal vegetation in China.
