Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context

Located in north-western Pingwu County, northern Sichuan. The IBA is in the foothills of Xuebaoding, the main peak in the Min Shan mountains.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected mammals including Giant Panda, Sichuan Snub-nosed Langur, Leopard, Takin, Asiatic Black Bear.

Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity

Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1993, and upgraded to a national nature reserve (63,615 ha) in 2006.
