Site description (2019 baseline)
The area is situated in the far west of the country, near river Drina and the state border with Bosnia&Herzegovina. It represents a large mountainous region, extending over 60km between cities of Valjevo and Bajina Bašta and Drina river. It is comprised of several distinct landscape features, such as mountains Maljen, Povlen, Medvednik, Jablanik, Bobija, Sokolina, as well as gorges of river Trešnjica, Gradac and others. The majority of the IBA is covered with deciduous forests, intertwined with numerous streams, meadows and pastures.
