Site location and context
A wide, undulating plain around Trujillo dominated by dehesas and dry grassland, with some non-irrigated arable land.
An important site for breeding steppic birds, breeding and passage
Ciconia nigra and wintering
Grus grus. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Aquila adalberti (resident).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from new infrastructure projects, disturbance and a new reservoir.
