Site description (2000 baseline)
A wide, undulating plain around Trujillo dominated by dehesas and dry grassland, with some non-irrigated arable land.
Key biodiversity
An important site for breeding steppic birds, breeding and passage Ciconia nigra and wintering Grus grus. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aquila adalberti (resident).
