Site description (2000 baseline)
A partly drained lake with large areas of marshland. The IBA consists of two discrete parts.
Key biodiversity
The site was designated as a Special Protection Area on the basis of two breeding species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive; Circus aeruginosus (no longer breeding) and C. pygargus (breeding in some years).
