Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A shallow, spring-fed saline lake separated from Lake Van (site 096) by an alluvial ridge. There is no outlet and up to 50% of the lake dries out during summer. Some marshland is present at the fringes where freshwater occurs. Low hills and non-irrigated arable land surround the lake. Limited stock-grazing occurs along the shoreline.
The area is important for breeding waterbirds.

No serious threats are known at the site.
