Site description (2009 baseline)
The IBA is located on the Shatian Peninsular in south-eastern Hepu County, and has eastern and western coastal sections. The coastline of the nature reserve is 50 km long, with 4,000 ha of land and 4,000 ha of sea. 720 ha of mangroves remain, most of the mangrove stands in the more inland areas having been converted into agricultural land.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: There are 13 species of mangroves in the nature reserve.
