Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
Located in the east of Fuerteventura, this is a good example of the deep rocky gullies found in the eastern Canary Islands, with running water and areas of dense vegetation including a
Tamarix canariensis copse. Human activities include goat-grazing.
The site is important for breeding
Saxicola dacotiae, and also supports wintering and migrating waders and passerines.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
High goat numbers adversely affect the vegetation. Domestic waste disposal results in an increase in the rat
Rattus population, leading to increased predation of breeding birds. Electric powerlines, disturbance caused by people, and illegal hunting pose additional threats.
