Site location and context
The area includes woodland, marshes, wet meadows, dunes and beaches, agricultural land and an estuary.
The site is a migratory bottleneck, where more than 3,000 raptors regularly pass in spring (including
Milvus migrans 1,600 individuals;
Pernis apivorus 650 individuals).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
There is considerable pressure from illegal spring hunting (mainly of
Streptopelia turtur). Areas of old mixed forest have been logged as a result of intensive forest management.
