Site description (2004 baseline):
Site location and context
Large wetland complex comprising lake Lubans, the surrounding fish-ponds and bogs. Significant forest cover and some flood-plain meadows or drained grassland also occur. A small part (Gomelis marsh) of the site was included in the first European IBA inventory [2] and expanded in the subsequent site lists [3, 4, 1]. Partially protected: there is a 37.8% overlap with seven restricted nature reserves, most of them candidate SPAs.
