Site description (2000 baseline)
Part of Lake Constance with reedbeds (Phragmites) and extensive areas of mud. Inland are tracts of riverine forest (mainly Salix), dry forest (Pinus and Fagus), ravine and hill-slope mixed forest, lightly improved hay-meadows, calcareous dry grassland, orchards, springs and cliffs.

Key biodiversity
This is an important stop-over site for passage species of wildfowl.
