Site description (2006 baseline):
Site location and context
The IBA consists of an oval waterbody of moderate size to the north west of Golubovka village (Ertisky district). The general proportions of the lake fluctuate from 2.5 x 2 to 2 x 1.5 km according to the current water level phase. The lake has a mosaic of reedbeds amid a system of channels and stretches of open water.
The typical avifauna of a small steppe lake.
The site is managed by a hunting society. Nevertheless, the area of the lake proper provides a resting place for game species and acts as a minute reserve, with shooting only taking place on the large puddles in the adjacent fields - the primary quarry is Anser anser.
Landuse: agriculture (cereal, cattle, horses and sheep).
