Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
An area of raised bog, partly forested with native broadleaved and conifer forest. Outside the protected core area are wet hay-meadows and pastures, together with two lakes, one of which is used for recreation.
An important site for species breeding in raised bog and humid grassland such as
Numenius arquata (13-14 pairs) and
Vanellus vanellus (35-40 pairs).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Land drainage is small-scale and limited to the margins of the site. An increasing number of farmers are taking up payments for late mowing. Some disturbance occurs as a result of recreational activities.

International Low135 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserves (Pfeiferanger, 76 ha; Frankinger Moos, 14 ha; Seeleithensee, 14 ha; Heratinger, See 31 ha). 76 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Pfeifer-Anger, 76 ha).
