Site description (2000 baseline)
A poorly-drained flood-plain, situated between Kapuvár and Csorna. Human activities are partially controlled, and include mowing and grazing of grasslands, peat extraction, reed-harvesting and hunting.

Key biodiversity
An important area for marshland birds. Numbers of breeding Egretta alba have increased markedly due to artificial flooding on c.1,000 ha. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (2-3 breeding pairs), Haliaeetus albicilla (wintering), Crex crex (4-5 breeding pairs), Otis tarda (1-2 breeding individuals).
