Gunung Burangrang - Tangkuban Perahu

Site location and context
This site consist of two mountains, Gunung Tangkuban Perahu (2023 m) and Gunung Burangrang (2064 m) which are located around 21 km north-west of Bandung.



Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: The important faunas in this site are Hylobates moloch, Presbytis comata and Trachypithecus auratus (Nijman 1997)



Habitat and land use
Gunung Tangkuban Perahu has mountain forest with botanical and aesthetic value, active volcano crater and scenic surroundings. Habitat type of Gunung Burangrang is upper mountain rainforest (MacKinnon et.al 1982) This area surrounds by plantations (Anon 1990).

a) 1290 ha of this area declared as Tangkuban Perahu Nature Reserve based on SK Menteri Pertanian No. 528/Kpts/Um/9/74 on 3 September 1974.b) 370 ha of this area as Tangkuban Perahu Recreation Park based on SK Menteri Pertanian No.528/Kpts/Um/9/1979.c) 2700 ha of this area declared as Burangrang Nature Reserve based on SK Menteri Pertanian No.479/Kpts/Um/8/79.(Anon 1997, Anon 1998)
