Site location and context
IBA Golija represents conspicuous mountainous area in the southwestern part of Serbia covers Radočelo and Golija Mts. Golija stretches in north-south direction in a S-shape between Novi Pazar and Raška towns on south and Ivanjica town on the north. The highest peak of this huge area is Jankov kamen (1833 m), followed by Radulovac (1785 m), Bojevo Brdo (1748 m) and Crni Vrh (1725 m) all situated on the ridge of the Golija Mt. This mountain region is heavilly forested mostly with Beech, Norway Spruce and their associations. Due to silicate base it is very rich with surface waters such as Izubra, Studenica and Golija rivers, Daićko, Košaninovo and Okrugličko lakes and hundreds of small streams. The Golija area has several thousands inhabitants within the 42 dispersed rural communities divided into five municipalities (Ivanjica, Kraljevo, Raška, Novi Pazar and Sjenica).
