Site location and context
Wet flood-meadows, mostly dominated by
Carex, some ponds, and marshes with mixed forests, near the shores of Kuronian lagoon.
This is the main breeding area for
Acrocephalus paludicola in Lithuania. Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Crex crex and
Haliaetus albicilla (1 pair).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The area is covered by the national IBA monitoring network. Open habitats are threatened by natural succession to forests (`Other' threat).

International None313 ha of IBA covered by Botanical/Zoological Reserve (Tyras, 313 ha).
