Site description (2000 baseline)
Partially drained fjords with lakes, reedbeds, meadows and saltmarshes.

Key biodiversity
The IBA is an important staging area for Cygnus cygnus, C. columbianus and Anser fabalis (nationally important site). Several species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive breed at the site including Botaurus stellaris, Circus aeruginosus, Porzana porzana, Recurvirostra avosetta, Philomachus pugnax, Sterna hirundo, S. paradisaea and Chlidonias niger.
