Site location and context
A mosaic of fen and transition mire, interspersed with remnants of raised bog and wet meadows (slightly agriculturally improved).
A total of 90-100 bird species, including
Grus grus, regularly breed here, and a further 70 are regular visitors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Crex crex (breeding).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Conservation work has been undertaken for
Grus grus.
National High
International Partial780 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Duvenstedter Brook, 780 ha). IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area.
