Site description (2000 baseline)
A mosaic of fen and transition mire, interspersed with remnants of raised bog and wet meadows (slightly agriculturally improved).
Key biodiversity
A total of 90-100 bird species, including Grus grus, regularly breed here, and a further 70 are regular visitors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (breeding).
