Site description (2000 baseline)
A bay with tidal sandflats, saltmarshes and small brackish ponds. Cattle graze on the saltmashes.
Key biodiversity
This is an important staging area for Pluvialis apricaria. Recurvirostra avosetta and Sterna paradisaea, both listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, bred in 1988, but no recent breeding data are available.
