Site description (2009 baseline):

Located in Damaoqi, northern Baotou City, with the Mongolian border to the north. The IBA comprises 85% desertified grassland.

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Procapra gutturosa, Canis lupus and Vulpes vulpes.

Unprotected, but there have been many studies of the grassland ecosystem and biodiversity in the IBA.
