Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A mountainous area in the centre of Badajoz province with high cliffs, extensive areas of broadleaved evergreen forest, sclerophyllous scrub and dehesas in the valleys. The area is used for livestock- grazing.
The site is important for raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Aegypius monachus (25 non-breeding individuals).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Forestry and agricultural operations cause disturbance to breeding birds.

International Low6,000 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Sierra Grande de Hornachos, 6,000 ha).
