Site description (2003 baseline):
Site location and context
Located on the South-east of Curup. There is a tea plantation in the middle part of this area (on the slope) but forest still survives on the upper part.
Bukit Kaba is include in the EBA 158 (Stattersfield
et.al. 1998), and one of the historical area for Salvadori's Pheasant
Lophura inornata and the record is re-confirmed in 1989.
Non-bird biodiversity: Primates in this site include Hylobates syndactylus and Hylobates agilis (Verbelen 2000).
Mountain forest on the peak, and tea plantation on the slope (Anon 1995).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Probably wood cutting.
Declared as Hunting Park based on SK. No. 186/Kpts/Um/II/1978 (15300 ha). 13490 ha of this area declared as Recreation Park based on SK Menhut No. 166/Kpts-II/1986 (Anon 1995) and 25000 ha of this area is proposed as Nature Reserve.
