Site description (2003 baseline):
Site location and context
Located on the Schwaner mountains between West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.
Rice (1989) found the extention of elevation range distribution of Black-breasted Fruit-hunter
Chlamydochaera jefferyi up to 1100 m asl. The information about birds in Schwaner Mountains is very limited and follow-up survey is needed.
Non-bird biodiversity: Pongo pygmeus, Presbytis rubicunda, Helarctos malayanus, Neofelis nebulosa (MacKinnon et.al 1996)
Dominated by lower mountain forest, lowland evergreen forest and upper mountain forest.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Illegal logging, forest conversion, illegal hunting activity, mineral mining (uncertain), and infrastructure development.
Declared as National Park (181900 ha) based on SK. No. 281/Kpts-II/1992 (Anon 1995)
