Site description (2000 baseline)
A mountainous area including the gorge of the Selinous river. The lower slopes are covered with Pinus forests and maquis. At high altitudes Abies forest and subalpine grasslands dominate. Human activities include forestry, stock-raising, and hunting.

Key biodiversity
This is an important area for breeding raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Falco naumanni (5 breeding pairs).
