Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
Marshland lying behind dykes with several canals and smaller streams. The area is mainly used for cattle-grazing.
This is an important staging area for
Anser brachyrhynchus,
Branta leucopsis and
B. bernicla, with total numbers of waterbirds exceeding 20,000 individuals. Most breeding birds declined during 1980-1990; more recent information is not available.

International High4,280 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Ballum and Husum Enge, Kamper Strandenge, 4,280 ha).
