Site location and context
Rather large salt-lake located to the north-west from Derbent, not so far from Caspian coast.
Drying up of water in summer is a threat to nesting birds (=Natural events).
Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
A large conservation project was carried out in 1998, involving bird monitoring and educational activities for school children, with a grant from British Petroleum.
