Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as uncommon in most of its range (Byers et al. 1995), while national population estimates include: c.50-10,000 wintering individuals in China; < c.1,000 individuals on migration in Taiwan and c.50-10,000 individuals on migration in Korea (Brazil 2009).
