Population justification: The global population is suspected to number 50,000-499,999 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2022).

Trend justification:

The population trend has not been investigated. Tree cover within the range has been lost at a rate of 14% over the past ten years; since 2016 this has been increasing to a rate equivalent to 20% over ten years (Global Forest Watch 2021, using Hansen et al. [2013] data and methods disclosed therein). Apart from forests, the species readily occupies edge, tall second growth, plantations, gardens and scrub (Fitzpatrick 2020); consequently, current deforestation may not be affecting the population at an equal rate. The rate of population decline is therefore here placed in the band 1-19% over ten years.
