Population justification: The global population is estimated to number 3,200,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2022).

Trend justification: The species has been undergoing a slow decline at an average rate of 0.5% per year between 1970 and 2017 (Partners in Flight 2022). Over the past three generations, the population in North America has declined by 13%, though this value is non-significant (Pardieck et al. 2019). To accounts for uncertainty, the decline is therefore here placed in the band 1-19% over three generations.
