Taxonomic note
Previously listed as Garrulax cineraceus (del Hoyo and Collar 2016) but moved to current genus following Cibois et al. (2018). Prior to this treated as conspecific with I. cinereiceps as G. cineraceus following Sibley and Monroe (1990, 1993). Taxonomic status of populations in SC & SW Sichuan (and perhaps elsewhere in this region) unclear; here presumed to belong with I. cinereiceps. Two subspecies currently recognized.
