Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but this species is described as 'fairly common' (Stotz et al. 1996).
The population is thought to be relatively secure and locally common, although suspected to be decreasing locally in Ecuador, Chile and Argentina (Ferguson-Lees and Christie 2001, del Hoyo et al. 2014).Trend justification: The population is suspected to be decreasing locally in Ecuador, Chile and Argentina (Ferguson-Lees and Christie 2001).
