Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be relatively common and widespread in the Tibetan plateau but it is declining in the former USSR (del Hoyo et al. 1997). The population size is suspected to be decreasing, with marked declines in Russia in recent years (del Hoyo et al. 1997).
