Population justification: Partners in Flight estimate the global population to number 50,000-499,999 mature individuals (A. Panjabi in litt. 2017). The species is described as 'fairly common' (Stotz et al. 1996).
Trend justification: The species is undergoing a large, significant decline (Partners in Flight 2019), which is thought to be caused by low levels of habitat loss within the range (Tracewski et al. 2016).
