Population justification: The global population is estimated to number c.840,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019).
Trend justification:
This species has undergone a large, significant decrease over the last 50 years, with an average annual decline of 4.3% (Partners in Flight 2019). Recently, declines have slowed down considerably, so that the species is assessed as stable over the past ten years (Pardieck et al. 2018). Its half-life is estimated at 63 years (Partners in Flight 2019).
