Taxonomic note
The species name is a replacement name introduced for Buarremon mystacalis Taczanowskii, 1874, based on perceived homonymy with Arremon mysticalis [sic] P.L. Sclater, 1852, a name now in synonymy of Atlapetes albofrenatus (del Hoyo and Collar 2016); irrespective of other arguments, and whether or not replacement was justified, the name mystacalis was replaced (long) before 1961 and is thus permanently invalid, as prescribed by ICZN Code (del Hoyo and Collar 2016).
