Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as rare in the Philippines and west java, locally fairly common on Sumatra and Enggano island and generally uncommon to rare in the Lesser Sunda islands (del Hoyo et al. 2005).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction and degradation.
