Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but although the species is described as very rare (del Hoyo et al. 2007), it is possible that the very few records result from low observer coverage within the altitudinal range of the species, rather than genuine rarity (N. Brickle in litt. 2007, J. Eaton in litt. 2007).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction and fragmentation.
