Population justification: The global population is estimated to number fewer than 50,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019), thus it is here placed in the band 20,000-49,999 mature individuals. The species is described as 'fairly common' (Stotz et al. 1996).
Trend justification: The population trend has not been directly quantified. The species tolerates or even benefits from habitat modification (Collar and Boesman 2020). Therefore, in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats, the population is tentatively assessed as being stable.
