Population justification: The population may number fewer than 500,000 individuals (del Hoyo et al. 1994), which is roughly equivalent to 330,000 mature individuals. The population is here placed in the band 100,000-499,999 mature individuals.
Trend justification: It has been suggested that the population is relatively stable (del Hoyo et al. 1994, Partners in Flight 2019). Nevertheless, the species has benefited from clear-cutting of forest and development of agriculture, and a range expansion has been reported (del Hoyo et al. 1994).
