Taxonomic note
Previously (Handbook of the Birds of the World and BirdLife International 2022) placed in Hylopezus and long considered conspecific with H. ochroleucus (see related note/s) but found to be deeply paraphyetic with respect to Hylopezus and assigned to current genus by Carneiro et al. (2019). Monotypic.
